New Projects Web Extras - Real Estate & Construction Biltech Building opens second plant Our Bureau Bhigwan, Oct. 19 Biltech Building Elements Ltd, the 100 per cent subsidiary of Ballarpur Industries Ltd, has commissioned the second AAC (aerated autoclaved concrete) facility in Bhigwan near Pune. Talking to presspersons, Mr Anil Bhargava, Chief Executive Officer, Biltech Building Elements, said this was its second light weight AAC manufacturing unit. The first one is in Palwal in Haryana. The Bhigwan facility would be manufacturing bricks utilising the fly ash generated at the power plant. It has a captive power plant which generates about 30 MW of power and 60,000 tonnes of fly ash. He said more than 75 per cent of the domestic power plants were coal based and nearly 100 million tonnes of fly ash were generated annually and added that this residual fly ash was being wasted. He said this plant would have a production capacity of 1,50,000 cu.m per annum and would help in raising the production capacity to three lakh cu.m per annum, for both plants. An investment of Rs 40 crore has been utilised for setting up the new unit, he said and it would take about six months for complete capacity utilisation.
Mr Bhargava said the company was also looking at a pan India presence and was targeting to set up three more facilities for the utilisation of the fly ash. He said that these plants may be located at the backyard of the power plants and added that cities such as Nagpur, Chennai, Bangalore, Raipur and Kolkata were being looked at for setting up of these facilities. He said a total investment of Rs 120 crore would be earmarked for the setting up of these facilities with a time frame of two and a half years He said the company was targeting one million cu. m capacity.
