Our Bureau
New Delhi, Oct 22
The Union Finance Minister, Mr P. Chidambaram, will be on a three-day visit to Norway from October 23.
During his visit, Mr Chidambaram will hold bilateral discussions with his counterpart, Ms Kristin Halvorsen.
The two ministers are likely to discuss issues of mutual interest particularly related to strengthening of bilateral economic ties in sectors such as information technology, food processing, hydrocarbons, fisheries, shipping and ship-building, hydro-electricity, tunnelling and environment.
Mr Chidambaram is also likely to call for policy changes by the Norwegian Government to facilitate investments in India from the corpus of the Pension Fund-Global.
The two ministers had met earlier in March during the visit of the Norwegian Finance Minister to India. During his three-day visit, Mr Chidambaram would also meet the Governor of the Central Bank of Norway, the Norges Bank.
Norway’s Pension Fund-Global has a corpus of more than $350 billion and is being managed by the Investment Management (NBIM) division of the Norges Bank.
NBIM is already registered with SEBI and has started investments in India from July 2005.
