Textiles States - Tamil Nadu Textile seminar to focus on need for global vision Our Bureau Coimbatore, Oct 22 The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Southern Region, in association with the Southern India Mills’ Association (SIMA), is organising the annual textile event –‘Comptex 2007’ – on October 26 and 27 at The Residency. The event, which has entered the fifth edition this year, is expected to focus on the need for the textile industries in this region to have a global vision and move to the next orbit in size, turnover and business outlook. “There is enormous scope for leveraging competencies, brand equities and capital base to catapult the companies to bigger league,” said CII Textile Panel Convenor, Dr S.K. Sundararaman. Conceding that the regional players had for decades remained conservative in their approach and outlook, Dr Sundararaman said “capacity enhancement alone is not enough. The industry should focus on achieving scale and sophistication of management systems and processes to drive exponential growth.” To highlight this, the organisers have arranged a session on ‘strategic expansion’. Ernst and Young have been roped in as the knowledge partner. ‘They will present a report titled ‘India in the Global Textiles Ecosystem’ prepared along with CII.
