Our Bureau

Mumbai, Oct 22 The question on everyone’s minds is how to manage capital inflows, especially foreign capital.

“We should focus on sterilisation efforts. The fiscal costs might increase but it will be counter benefited by increase in the growth rate”, said Dr. Rajiv Lall, MD & CEO, IDFC Ltd, speaking at a meeting.

Before sterilisation, Mr Lall added that the RBI should think about focusing attention on the target on exchange rate rather than the inflation rate.

On measures to tackle capital inflow, Mr Mohan Shenoi, Treasurer, Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd, said, “Sterilise the inflows, allow the rupee to appreciate, let the interest rates decrease, increase outflows, increase returns and curb inflows.
