PepsiCo unveils Tropicana Twister

Our Bureau

Chennai, Oct. 24 PepsiCo India today launched Tropicana Twister, its international fruit drink brand in the country. Starting from the South, the company plans to take the brand to other markets in a phased manner.

The fruit juice and fruit drink (while the juice is based on fruit pulp, fruit drink is mostly synthetic) category is Rs 1,200 crore in India and is the second fastest growing (20 per cent) liquid refreshment beverage. Dabur’s Real is the leader in the category, and Pepsi’s Tropicana is the second with a fifth of the market. “And, we are sure the fruit juice and fruit drink segment will contribute 50 per cent of the company’s revenue growth,” said Ms Sucheta Govil, Executive Director – Innovation, PepsiCo India.

Though the product is available in other markets globally for some time now, PepsiCo brought it to India only now because it had to modify the taste of the drink to suit the Indian palate, Ms Govil pointed out.
