Personal Products Gillette Q2 net dips Our Bureau Mumbai, Oct. 25 Gillette India Ltd has reported a fall in net profit for the second quarter of the current fiscal at Rs 27.8 crore, as against Rs 50.5 crore during the corresponding period of the last fiscal. However, the company said the net profit for the three months ended September 30, 2006 is not comparable with the current quarter as it included the exceptional item of income of Rs 38.13 crore arising from the financial restructuring and reconstruction. During the quarter, the company recorded a 36 per cent increase in sales to touch Rs 137.30 crore. “The growth in sales is in line with the synergy and benefits envisaged with integration of the company’s operations with that of Procter & Gamble in India,” the company said. Men’s grooming business was up by 32 per cent, as compared to the corresponding quarter last fiscal in the wake of the holistic launch of Winners Program for Mach 3, introduction of Speed shaving systems and “Zero Tension Challenge” campaign on Vector.
