Rice States - Andhra Pradesh ‘AP to strive for Rs 1,000 MSP for paddy’ Our Bureau Kakinada, Oct. 25 The Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, has promised the paddy farmers in the State in general, and the two Godavari districts in particular, that he will strive to secure the minimum support price of Rs 1,000 per quintal on a par with wheat. The two districts account for the bulk of paddy produced in the State. The Chief Minister toured the East and West Godavari districts on Thursday and participated in a number of programmes. In the morning, he released water into the canals at the Tatipudi lift irrigation scheme in West Godavari district. Dr Reddy reiterated his Government’s commitment to complete the pending irrigation projects in the State, especially the mega Indira Sagar (Polavaram) project on the Godavari.
