Tea Tea prices gain on demand at Kochi auction Our Bureau Kochi, Oct. 26 Good general demand propped up the price of most teas at the Kochi tea auction which had 10 lakh kg of dust tea on offer. Market for CTC was steady to dearer by Rs 2-3 as the sale progressed. Good liquoring CTCs appreciated even more. High grown dusts were easier, while mediums were steady. Blenders and domestic buyers were active in the market. Some amount of export enquiry was also reported. Best CTC varieties fetched Rs 65-75, medium CTC was quoted at Rs 50-58 and below medium ranged Rs 32-38. High grown BOPD was at Rs 100, medium BOPD quoted Rs 40-45 and secondaries ranged at Rs 30-35. Leaf SalePrices of high grown orthodox whole leaf grades eased, bolder brokens were dearer, while others remained steady. Medium orthodox also remained steady following quality. CTC were irregularly dearer by Re 1-Rs 2, while orthodox witnessed good demand from exporters. CTC varieties also witnessed some demand from exporters. Best Nilgiri varieties fetched Rs 85-95, medium orthodox ranged at Rs 44-70 and plain orthodox quoted Rs 40-42. Best CTC leaf realised Rs 50-60 and medium CTC fetched Rs 42-47. More Stories on : Tea
