ICICI Pru posts 52% rise in new premium

ICICI Prudential Life Insurance has registered a 52 per cent increase in new business premium in the first six months of the fiscal 2007-08 at Rs 2,466 crore, against Rs 1,626 crore in the corresponding period in the previous year.

The company has underwritten around 11 lakh policies during this period, up 67 per cent against 6.6 lakh policies in the year-ago period.

Group business premium was higher by 19 per cent at Rs 292 crore, against Rs 245 crore in the previous year.

The sum assured in force stands at Rs 1,15,700 crore. As on September 30, 2007, the company’s assets stood at Rs 22,700 crore (Rs 11,423 crore).
