Tiruchi, Oct 26 Educational and health policies befitting the higher component of youth in the population must be formulated to transform India into one of the richest nations in the world along with the US and China by 2050, said Prof M. Victor Louis Anthuvan of the Loyola Institute of Business Administration.

Education expenditure to create intelligent youth who would inevitably hold the reins of international organisations should be deemed a necessary investment, Prof. Anthuvan said delivering a special address at the St. Joseph’s Institute of Management (JIM) here to mark the inauguration of St. Joseph’s Institute of Management Association (JIMA) and activities of the BL Club.

At the current rate of 9.4 per cent growth rate that is next only to that of China, India could overtake France, Germany and England in the next 10 years, and Japan in the next 15 years. The average growth rate of Japan and the European countries has been hovering around only two per cent, he said, observing that the transformation of Indian economy has been phenomenal since 1950.

For sharpening mental faculties of the current generation of students, he advocated expansion of knowledge base much beyond the subject contents through incessant reading and to acquire communication skills to articulate ideas. Knowledge, sincerity, honesty and hardwork were the ingredients for success, Prof. Anthuvan.

Mr S. Dharmaraj, Secretary, Tamil Nadu Private Bus Operators Association, inaugurated the JIMA in the presence of the Rev. Fr. A. Antony Pappuraj, Director – JIM, at the function presided over by Rev. Fr. A. Joseph, Secretary, St. Joseph’s College. Mr R. Srinivasan, Regional General Manager, The Hindu, Tiruchi, delivered the keynote address.
