Apollo Hospitals expansion plan

New Delhi, Nov 2

The Apollo Group will be investing Rs 800 crore over the next two years to add 1,600 beds. Ms Suneeta Reddy, Executive Director, Apollo Hospital Group, said much of this expansion would be in consolidating its strength in metros and in increasing presence in Class B cities with specialty hospitals in cities such as Vishakhapatnam and Bhubaneshwar. "We have already acquired land and construction of all the projects should start in 18 months," said Ms Reddy. "We shall also be adding 400 beds around Hyderabad, and another 250 beds around Chennai," she added. At least two of the projects are expected to start soon. The company recently acquired Atlanta based business process outsourcing company Zavata Inc. It also recently announced three hospitals in Maharashtra. - Our Bureau
