New Projects States - Maharashtra Grover plans winery in Sangli
Our Bureau Pune, Nov. 2 Karnataka-based Grover Vineyards Ltd is setting up its first winery in Maharashtra at Sangli, and will begin production of four wine ranges, including its newly launched Sante range, from here beginning later this month. The company is also launching a sparkling wine during the next fiscal. Grover launched Sante Chenin Blanc and Sante Shiraz in Pune today. The new facility, which is located on a 150-acre vineyard, involves an investment of Rs 30 crore. It will cater to the Maharashtra market and source grapes both from its own vineyard as well as from contract farms in the region, Mr Carl D’Silva, General Manager, S&M, Brindco Ltd, said. The company acquired a 20 per cent stake in Grover Vineyards this April, and is marketing its products both in India and abroad. To make wine affordable, Grover Vineyards, which has seven labels, has priced its Sante range at a retail price of Rs 292. A wine tasting bar at its Nandi Hills’ winery is also on the cards. The company, India’s third largest wine maker, sold 54,000 cases earning revenue of Rs 36 crore last fiscal. It expects to sell one lakh cases and do business worth Rs 55 crore this year.
