Ozone Group unveils protein sequencer

Our Bureau

Hyderabad, Nov 2 The Ozone Group, engaged in healthcare and pharmaceuticals, has launched a prototype protein sequencer that is said to be 60 times faster than the existing machines in the world.

A protein sequencer is used to determine the sequence of amino acids in a protein and thus plays a key role in drug discovery process.

“Our product, OzoneSEQ1000, is developed after two years of research in our US-based research arm, Ozone Frontiers.

It can sequence 12 protein samples simultaneously in 10 minutes,” Mr S.C. Sehgal, Chairman and Managing Director, Ozone Group, told newspersons here.

The machines currently used all over the world can sequence a single protein in 20 minutes time, he said.
