Jute Government - Policy Cabinet nod for changes in jute board Bill Our Bureau New Delhi, Nov. 2 The Union Cabinet on Friday approved modifications in the Bill for setting up the National Jute Board, as suggested by the House panel, incorporating certain amendments.“The Government approved the suggestions of a Parliamentary panel on enlarging the scope of functioning of the proposed National Jute Board and the Cabinet has agreed to bring in changes in the National Jute Board Bill 2006, which is pending in Parliament,” the Information and Broadcasting Minister, Mr P.R. Dasmunsi, told reporters after the Cabinet meeting.The decision was based on the recommendations made by the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Labour which relates to the expansion of functions and membership of the proposed National Jute Board. The formation of the National Jute Board was proposed in the National Jute Policy which was announced in April 2005. As per the proposal, different jute bodies under the Central Government would be merged with the proposed Board. More Stories on : Jute | Policy
