Panel hears views on Sethu

New Delhi, Nov. 3

Over 130 persons conveyed their wide ranging views to the Committee set up look into the Sethu Samudram Shipping Channel project up to November 3. The views expressed cover wide range of issues varying from economic viability to environmental, navigational, security, historical, religious, social and developmental factors, said an official release. Considering the large volume of work, the committee, which was required to submit its report within one month from the day it starts functioning, has sought an extension for this time period from the Government. The committee has decided to meet again at Chennai, after completion of personal hearings, on November 14 and 15. —
