Kolkata, Nov. 3 Bhilai Steel Plant, the flagship plant of Steel Authority of India Ltd, posted an improved performance during April-October 2007. Hot metal production from Blast Furnace Seven was 1,25,322 tonnes in October, surpassing its previous best level of 1,18,157 tonnes achieved in September. During April-October, the plant also recorded its best-ever production of boiler-quality and high-tensile plates, electrode-quality wire rods, TMT wire rods, TMT bars and UTS 90 rails. Durin g the period, the plant’s Rail & Strl Mill loaded 1,22,998 tonnes of 26-metre-long rails, registering a growth of 33.9 per cent.
