US Pizza to enter Vietnam; plans Europe exports

Ahmedabad, Nov. 7

US Pizza Pvt Ltd, the Bangalore-based fast-food outlet chain, is set to expand to Vietnam and export to Europe, Mr Akbar Khwaja, Managing Director, said here.

After inauguration of India’s largest pizza outlet occupying an area of 5,000 sq. ft., he told reporters that US Pizza has signed a master franchisee agreement for opening pizza outlets in Vietnam. Besides, it has also tied up with a Norwegian company, which serves pizzas off-the-shelf and has outsourced part of production to India. Under this arrangement, the base for pizzas would be manufactured at Bangalore and exported to Norway, Sweden and other European countries where the final product would be “assembled.”

Mr Khwaja said the company, which now has 58 outlets across 31 cities mainly in southern and western India, would have 150 outlets by the end of 2008. These would include many tier-two and-three cities and towns.
