ECIL lays stress on e-governance projects

Hyderabad, Nov. 11 Electronics Corporation of India Ltd (ECIL) is currently working on several e-governance projects that will prove useful in the day-to-day lives of people, according to Mr K.S. Rajasekhara Rao, Chairman and Managing Director, ECIL.

Speaking at a function to mark the visit of Union Minister of State for Human Resources Development, Ms D. Purandareswari, to ECIL premises here on Saturday, Mr Rao said the e-governance projects would bring about “a sea-change in the areas of agriculture, health, education, medicare, computerised ration cards, digitisation of land records, access to municipal service, and multipurpose identity cards.”

The projects include technical mission on cotton and farmer information centres, networking and communication of market yards and Andhra Pradesh Secretariat wide area network.

According to a release, Ms Purandareswari appreciated ECIL’s efforts and said the advantages of new technologies should reach the rural poor and improve their quality of life.
