India will participate in WorldSkills contest

New Delhi, Nov 13 India will participate in the WorldSkills Competition, to be held at Shizouka, Japan, from November 14-21.

The Confederation of Indian Industry is representing India in WorldSkills Competition and taking a team of 30 members to the event.

WorldSkills International is a not-for-profit international membership organisation. Its mission is to raise the status and standards of vocational skills and training worldwide.

Every two years, young skilled men and women gather from around the world to compete before the public on 40 skills against demanding international standards.

The competition is open to only young people below the age of 22years.

The thirty-ninth WorldSkills Competition is jointly held along with seventh Abilympics Competition at Shizouka. About 3,452 participants from 63 countries, which include 836 competitors for WorldSkills Competitions and 425 contestants from 28 countries for International Abilympics are taking part.

India is participating in five skills categories. The competitors and experts are drawn from Tata Motors, Pune, MICO BOSCH, Bangalore and Gee Dee Technical Training Institute, Coimbatore.
