Lower than projections

Hit by rains: Coffee beans being packed in gunny bags at a collecting centre near Vaduvanchal in Kerala’s Wayanad district. Coffee production, mainly robusta, is expected to decline by 10-12 per cent owing to incessant rains in major growing areas in Kerala and Karnataka. The Coffee Board, in its post-monsoon estimates, pegged the output at 2.91 lakh tonnes but it could be a little lower than that. –
