Arrivals keep maize price stable

Coimbatore, Nov. 19

Higher arrivals of maize have helped its prices to remain stable last week notwithstanding the higher demand for from poultry, starch producers and exporters. The price of maize has almost remained stable at Rs 6,600-Rs 6,650 per tonne for the past two weeks, ruling higher than the Centre's stipulated minimum support price of Rs 6,200. The prevailing rate is on par with last year's price levels.

According to US Grains Council's India market report, strong export demand for India's maize is noticed for the South East Asian region and the export price (FoB) quote is at (India port) $220- 230 or Rs 8,690/Rs 9,085 a tonne or at C&F rate of $240- 245 (Rs 9,480/Rs 9,677). - Our Bureau
