Chennai, Nov. 21 BMD Group today announced its foray into the media and entertainment segment. The group has floated a separate division Air Media Technologies for the purpose.

With an initial investment of Rs 10 crore (through internal accruals), the new division will focus on film production, creating contents for TV channels, home videos and film distribution.

According to Mr S. Baskar, group CEO, the company is all set to release its first film (a thriller comedy in Tamil) in February. It is also in talks with “a leading Telugu channel for creating new content.

“Going by the significant growth in the Indian media and entertainment industry, we see huge potential in the segment,” said Mr Baskar. Air Media also unveiled its non-mythological animation character – Tusker.
