New Delhi, Nov 22 The Directorate General of Civil Aviation has cleared 804 foreign pilots to fly in India, the Minister of Civil Aviation, Mr Praful Patel, told Parliament on Thursday.

Jet Airways has employed 271 foreign pilots while Air Deccan has 149 foreign pilots, the Minister said.

The other airlines that have employed foreign pilots include Air India (117), Kingfisher Airlines (95), Indigo (66), SpiceJet (42), Paramount (21) and Alliance Air (20), Mr Patel said.

International airports

The Minister also said that the Government does not have any plans to set up any new international airports in the XIth Plan period by itself or through the Airports Authority of India (AAI).

The Government would, however, like to promote such airports through public-private partnership and through the participation of the private and state sector, the Minister said.

The Minister said that two airports at Bangalore and Hyderabad would be commissioned by early next year while in-principle approval had been given for setting up international airports through the PPP route at Mopa in Goa and at Navi Mumbai.

Dues from States

The Minister also informed Parliament that Rs 2.37 crore was due to Indian and its subsidiary Alliance till the end of October this year by various State Governments for tickets issued on credit.
