Rupee tad weaker

Mumbai, Nov. 26

The rupee weakened by about nine paise against the greenback on Monday on dollar buying by some foreign and nationalised banks, said a dealer with a private bank.

The home currency opened at 39.62 and went up to 39.58, it however weakened later during the day due to dollar buying by nationalised banks. The rupee closed at 39.80 per dollar, down from the previous close of 39.7150.

Foreign exchange dealers expect the rupee to depreciate further to 40 levels. In forwards, the six-month premia closed at 0.82 per cent (1.16 per cent) and the 12-month closed at 0.76 per cent (0.94 per cent). - Our Bureau
