PNB opens biometric ATM

New Delhi, Nov. 26

Punjab National Bank (PNB) has installed the first ever biometric automated teller machine (ATM) of the bank at the Chhapraula village branch of district Gautam Buddh Nagar in Uttar Pradesh. A release issued by PNB said that this biometric ATM was the first of its kind in entire North India in Indo-Gangetic belt.

Inaugurating the biometric ATM here on Monday, Dr K. C. Chakrabarty, Chairman and Managing Director, said that the bank has established the bio-metric ATM for the benefit of illiterate and semi-illiterate customers. It would enable them to withdraw cash, make balance enquiry, and get a mini statement with the facility of voice guidance. PNB has so far installed 1231 ATMs in the country, out of which 192 ATMs are in the National Capital Region (NCR). - Our Bureau
