Money & Banking - New Products & Services
At the click of the mouse

Mumbai, Nov. 26

Bank of Baroda, the host of BANCON 2007, used the opportunity of the inaugural session and the presence of the Minister of State for Finance, Mr Pawan Kumar Bansal, to launch a series of initiatives.

These included the launch of 52 branches across India, second Generation Next branch in Bangalore, roll out of core banking solutions at 151 branches and 51 new ATMs across the country.

The first bio-metric ATM for BoB in Gujarat was launched as well as a new HR and learning management system. All these initiatives were launched with a click of a mouse by the Minister, who alluded to this while winding up his address, highlighting how banks were adapting to technology.

The minister also quipped that the applause seemed canned. He said, “You didn’t have to put your hands together. Dr A.K. Khandelwal has taken care of that!” One wonders now whether the applause was natural? —
