Call for joint ventures with EU in pharma

Our Bureau

Hyderabad, Nov. 29 Indian pharma companies should actively explore acquisition and joint venture feasibilities in Europe, according to Mr K.V. Raghavan, Chairman of Recruitment and Assessment Centre (RAC), Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).

Advantages

Speaking at a European Union – India roundtable on pharma sector here on Thursday, Mr Raghavan said manpower, regulatory frameworks, growing biotech capabilities and a forward looking corporate structure were the advantages for Indian pharma industry.

“These strengths should be leveraged to form joint ventures with pharma companies in Europe and acquisitions,” he said. The growth in the EU generics market in Germany, France and the UK and wider product availability would particularly favour joint ventures between India and European Union, he added.

The programme was organised by European Union India Investment Facilitation Desk.
