New Delhi, Nov 30 Educomp Solutions, an e-learning service provider, has forayed into formal school management with the launch of ‘The millennium school’. The integrated learning delivery system is targeted to enhance the current school curriculum.

At least 100 such schools will be set up across the country in the next three-four years. The first two schools will open at Mohali in Punjab, and Noida in Uttar Pradesh.

“The millennium schools will use proprietary learning systems to establish new benchmarks in Indian school education. We hope to have at least 20 millennium schools by June 2009,” Mr Shantanu Prakash, Managing Director, Educomp Solutions, said in a news conference here.

The company will employ its learning delivery system — Millennium Learning System (MLS) — in the schools. MLS is a process under which teachers would be educated in an innovative and standardised manner, so that in case a teacher leaves or is transferred a new one can step in and continue teaching in the same manner, he added.

Also, under MLS, student-friendly textbooks have been designed, which would be taught with the help of visuals appearing on LCD screens that would be installed in each classroom.

Educomp would tie up with schools on a revenue-sharing basis, which would include training fee of teachers, cost of the new textbooks, technology provided to adapt to the system and the success rate of this new initiate.

Mr Prakash said the company focuses extensively on R&D and will be spending close to Rs 20 crore this fiscal. Besides, it would also be spending around Rs 1 crore on technology upgradation.
