Clearance for placing 11th Plan draft before NDC
Our Bureau
New Delhi, Nov. 30 The Cabinet on Friday gave its approval to place the draft document of the Eleventh Five-Year Plan (2007-12) before the National Development Council (NDC). The NDC meeting is likely to take place in December. The Information and Broadcasting Minister, Mr P.R. Dasmunsi, said that this would enable operationalisation of the Plan in full.
The Cabinet also decided to table the much awaited urban housing policy in Parliament. The National Urban Housing and Habitat Policy, 2005 was approved by the Union Cabinet last night for its tabling in Parliament. Mr Dasmunsi said the policy document would be circulated among state Governments and other stake holders for its implementation.
The policy, when implemented, will promote sustained development of urban housing and settlements with a focus on social housing for economically weaker section and lower income groups, the Minister said.
The Cabinet has also given its approval for moving official amendments in the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Bill, 2007 in Lok Sabha.
