India Economic Summit to commence on Sunday

New Delhi, Nov 30 The Confederation of Indian Industry on Friday announced the opening of the India Economic Summit on Sunday.

The summit will explore the many facets of India’s economic, social and political transformation with the goal of identifying the opportunities and challenges that will shape India’s future business environment. This year’s summit will feature business stalwarts such as Mr Sunil Bharti Mittal, Chairman and Group Chief Executive Officer of Bharti Enterprises, Mr B. Ramalinga Raju, Founder and Chairman, Satyam Computer Services, Mr Stephen J. Rohleder, Chief Operating Officer, Accenture of the US, Mr Anand G. Mahindra, Vice-Chairman and Managing Director, Mahindra and Mahindra, Mr Harish Hende, SELCO Solar Light, Mr Shiv V. Khemka, Vice-Chairman, Sun Group, and Mr Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director, Reliance Industries Ltd.

The political personalities gracing the occasion will be Mr P. Chidambaram, Finance Minister, Mr Kamal Nath, Minister of Commerce and Industry, Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu, President, Telugu Desam Party, Mr Abhishek Manu Singhvi, Member of Parliament and national spokesperson for the ruling Congress Party, Mr Vilasrao Deshmukh, Chief Minister of Maharashtra and Mr D. Raja, Member of Parliament, National Secretary, Communist Party of India, amongst others.

Talks on development

The sessions will have discussions on urbanisation and development in India, the rupee’s rise, shifting of power equations in the country and building a global financial centre in India.

This year’s summit will have 26 private events and 36 public sessions, with 280 foreign and 130 Indian organisations.
