GM, IIT-Kharagpur to do jt research
Kolkata, Dec. 6
General Motors Corp and the Indian Institute of
Technology-Kharagpur have agreed to carry out
joint research in the areas of electronics, controls and
software and also develop new educational
curriculum. The agreement will be signed by the
General Motors team led by Dr Alan Taub, GM's
Executive Director-R&D, and the IIT-Kharagpur
group led by the Director, Professor Damodar Acharya,
at the IIT-Kharagpur campus on Friday. The lab will
be co-managed by GM's India Science Lab in
Bangalore and IIT-KGP's Sponsored Research &
Industrial Consultancy Unit. The research done at the
new Collaborative Research Lab will be shared within
GM's global research and development network. GM
will commit more than $1 million for research to be
done over the next five years in the lab. - Our Bureau
