IIT Kanpur working on fog vision project for Rlys

New Delhi, Dec. 7 To help train drivers run trains at normal speeds in foggy weather, the Indian Institute of Technology(IIT) Kanpur, is working on a research project with the Research Design and Standards Organisation (RDSO) and other industry partners.

An official release issued here said the Railways is working on a ‘Fog Vision Instrumentation’ project under the ‘Technology Mission on Railway Safety’, which is being executed jointly by , IIT Kanpur (Coordinator), RDSO and industry partners.

The aim of the project is to develop instruments based on laser technology to help the drivers to run trains at normal speed in foggy weather. The outlay for this research project is Rs 3 crore, it added.
