Mumbai, Dec 14 The city based Videsh Sanchar Nigam Ltd (VSNL) has been rechristened as Tata Communications Ltd at an extraordinary general meeting of the company convened today.

The company board has also approved to pay a branding fee, which will be 0.25 per cent of VSNL’s turnover or 5 per cent of its profit before tax, according to a communication from VSNL. The new name was approved at the EGM. The VSNL scrip was down by 1.24 per cent to close at Rs 650.8 on the BSE.
