The Hindu Lifestyle show comes to Coimbatore

R.Y. Narayanan

Coimbatore, Dec. 16 The third edition of The Hindu MetroPlus Lifestyle Show will be held at the Codissia Trade Fair Complex in Coimbatore from December 21 to 25.

The lifestyle show that began at Chennai in 2004 has grown from a 3-cities show in 2005 to a 7-cities affair in 2006 and a 9-cities show in 2007 with Vizag and New Delhi joining the centres this year.

Mr Supratik Datta, DGM, Advertisement-Marketing, The Hindu, Chennai, briefing the media here on Saturday, said the Lifestyle Show at Coimbatore would have about 300 stalls and a huge variety of products at various price points would be on offer, ranging from consumer electronics to automobiles and accessories, jewellery, kitchen accessories, IT products and gift items.

Mr Robby Joseph, Area Manager-Coimbatore Sales Unit, Samsung, the chief sponsor of the event, said there was high synergy between his company and The Hindu group and Samsung could do a lot of brand building by participating in the show. Some of the lifestyle products that are not normally displayed in the retail showrooms would be on show at the exhibition.

Mr N. Jayakumar, Area Manager-Tamil Nadu, General Motors, said that in the past two years December has proved to be an important month for sales for the automobile industry and his company has come out with attractive December schemes for its products for which he expected a good response at the show.

Mr K. Vinayagam, Executive Director, The Chennai Silks, which came out with the world’s costliest silk saree — priced around Rs 40 lakh and adorned with 11 paintings of Ravi Varma — said his company was in negotiations for the sale of this saree. The Chennai Silks, General Motors, Ashan Perfumes, Ideal Stores, Classic Polo and Girias Electronics are the associate sponsors for the show.
