General insurance officials’ plea

Our Bureau

Kochi, Dec. 16 The Kerala state conference of the General Insurance Officers All India Association (GIOAIA) has appealed to the union government to make relevant amendments in the Indian Motor Vehicles Act.

At the conference, it was demanded that the compulsory written test needed for officers to get a promotion be dropped, according to an official press release.

The association, it said, has asked the Central government and the General Insurers Public Sector Association (GIPSA) to release the wage-revision to development officers, which is withheld since December 2005.

The grievance among the class-two staff has badly affected the business growth of PSU General Insurers.

The conference was inaugurated by Mr B. Rajaram, All India Additional General Secretary of the Association. Mr V. Vasudevan and Mr P.P. Mohanan are the new President and General Secretary of the Association’s Kerala unit.
