Targeting NRI, S. Asian homes in Europe

Our Bureau

New Delhi, Dec. 17 ORG Informatics has completed the acquisition of Belgacom’s teleport and satellite business. The acquisition will enable ORG to enter Europe to offer a direct-to-home platform to broadcasters.

The company is targeting Indian broadcasters who want to take their channels into Europe to address the 1.5 million NRI and South Asian homes in that continent.

ORG is in discussions with several channels to form two bouquets initially: a ‘North’ bouquet with Hindi, Urdu, Gujarati, Punjabi, Bengali and Nepalese channels, and a ‘South’ bouquet with Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu and Singhalese channels to start with.

“We want to utilise our expertise of setting up satellite networks for our traditionally Telco customers, to become a satellite service provider of choice to the enterprising media and broadcast majors of India by creating a platform to showcase and exploit their wonderful content, and bring India closer to the NRIs of Europe,” said Mr Ajoy Khanderia, CEO of ORG Informatics Ltd.

Initially, ORG is expecting the annual revenues to be more than €20 million. The company is expecting to achieve 1-lakh viewers for this platform within three years.
