CII team studies Sterlite’s manufacturing practices

Madurai, Dec. 17 A 27-member mission of Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) visited Tuticorin-based Sterlite Industries (India) Ltd (SIIL) on December 7 to assess the competitiveness required to achieve world class manufacturing status with focus on best manufacturing practices.
The mission was led by Mr K. Pon Venkatesh, Managing Director, S.P.N. Agencies, and included Chief Executives, Managing Directors and personnel of senior management of 15 industries surrounding Tuticorin and Madurai.
While Mr Joseph J.M. Peeris, General Manager-HR, Sterlite Industries, welcomed the mission, Mr Kishore Kumar, Chief Executive Officer, Sterlite Industries, briefing the Sterlite’s performance, emphasised on the plant’s zero discharge status.
Mr Susil Gupta, Chief Financial Officer, Mr Abhay Ghirnikar, GM (Commercial) and Mr Sanjay Karn, GM (Marketing), Sterlite Industries, shared their experiences on good practices with delegates.
The CII delegation visited anode furnace, refinery and continuous casting rod plant with modern technology and observed the world-class manufacturing practices and sustained continuous learning.
