Brands Royal Classic to take Smash abroad Bangalore, Dec. 19 Tirupur-based Royal Classic Group (RCG) plans to take its Smash brand of men’s innerwear overseas in the next financial year. It will look at the Singapore and Dubai markets, said Mr R. Sivaram, Executive Director, RCG, at the launch event of Smash Innovations — a range of “new generation” innerwear. (RCG had acquired Mumbai-based Smash in 2005.) “This financial year, we will focus on South India for Smash. Next year, we will also look at the West, apart from the overseas markets,” said Mr Sivaram. The undergarments market in the country is estimated at Rs 8,000 crore. Of this, men’s innerwear accounts for Rs 2,900 crore. RCG expects a turnover of Rs 3 crore from Smash this year. Currently, the company’s other brand – Classic Polo (a range of T-shirts) – is being sold in the UAE through chain stores. The company plans to open exclusive stores in Singapore and the UAE as well. It is also eyeing other Asian markets. — Our Bureau More Stories on : Brands | Readymade Garments
