Mumbai, Dec. 19 Network18, the holding company of TV 18, and media house Jagran Prakashan have announced a 50:50 joint venture to launch a Hindi business daily newspaper next year.

A press release issued said the joint venture will subsequently come out with dailies focused on financial and economic news in other Indian languages. The new Hindi business daily will be the first Hindi business paper to hit the market nationally and it marks the foray of Network18 into the dailies space. The operational specifics, in terms of brand name for the business daily, selection of the editorial and business team and so on, is in the process of being formalised.

The venture will be funded through an initial equity infusion from both sides followed by internal accruals and debt financing in the later stage. The board governing the venture will have representatives from TV18 & Jagran Prakashan.
