TN Chamber trade fair begins today

Our Correspondent

Madurai, Dec. 20 The Tamilnadu Chamber of Commerce and Industries is organising ‘Chamber Trade Fair 2008’ — for the eleventh year in succession — between December 21 and January 7. The slogan for the event is ‘Innovation — The Growth Mantra’.

The objective of the exhibition is to lay emphasis on innovation, showcase the high quality of Indian-made products globally, and motivate Indian manufacturers to constantly upgrade the quality of their produce, enabling them to successfully tap local as well as international markets, said Mr S. Rethinavelu, Chamber President, in a meet with the press here on Thursday.

Corporate entities such as Hatsun Agro Products, TTK Health Care, Tata Sky, Tata Tea, Tata Indicom, Hindustan Lever, and TNPL will participate along with departments from the Central and State Governments.

Seminars

Topics for the three seminars organised are ‘Earn From Home — IT Opportunities’, ‘Retail Revolution’, and ‘Importance of Energy Conservation and Methods’. A registration fee of Rs 200 will be charged for each seminar.

An innovation arcade to encourage school children display their creations is being separately organised from December 26 to 30.

To recognise talents, the chamber will give awards of Rs 20,000, Rs 15,000, and Rs 10,000 along with 10 complimentary prizes. Thirty schools have registered for the programme. Entry fee for the exhibition is at Rs 5 for an adult. Children below 12 years are exempted from the charge.
