Indian is 10 millionth visitor to Singapore

Hyderabad, Dec. 22 Mr Sanjeev Bhandari, an Indian tourist visiting Singapore with his family, has been declared as the 10 millionth visitor to the city nation in 2007 today.

The tag has won him a slew of mouth-watering offers, which include free stays, travel and a free return ticket to Singapore again.

As Singapore achieved a new milestone for its tourism sector, Mr Bhandari arrived here from Hyderabad. He was in for a surprise with Singapore Tourism Board’s Deputy Chief Executive (International), Mr Quek Swee Kuan, greeted his family at the Changi Airport. It’s not all. A cultural troupe gave them a special performance.The board has a reason to celebrate. It achieved the magic figure of 10 million tourists as against 9.7 million in 2006.

Hyderabad ranked fifth major Indian source for Singapore tourism during January to October 2007, with a growth rate of 20 per cent over 2006 figure, according to Ms Siew-Kheng Kang, Regional Director (South Asia, Middle East and Africa) of STB. Mr Bhandari has won for himself and his family members many exciting prizes, which include complimentary stays at hotels, rides on a luxury cruise and the HiPPO bus to view the spectacular Christmas Light-up along Orchard Road.

The family would also have a personal guide and vehicle at their disposal throughout their four-day stay here. India was the fourth largest inbound market for visitor arrivals to Singapore, contributing to 7 per cent of the total arrivals in 2006.
