A century after: Yule House, in Kolkata’s none-too-corporate-savvy Clive Row of today, gets a fresh coat of paint on completion of a hundred years. The building, described today as the “iconic corporate centre of the Yule group of companies”, was completed in 1907, after David Yule had bought No. 8 Clive Row in 1905. Previous to that - according to a short history of the company first published in 1963 to commemorate 100 years of the company’s existence - Thacker’s Directory of 1868 had given the address of the company as No. 6 Clive Row (later renumbered No. 7).
