Hyderabad film fest from Jan 3

Hyderabad, Dec. 25 The second edition of Hyderabad International Film Festival will begin on January 3. The eight-day film extravaganza will have 15 sections that include World Cinema, Comedy and Indian Cinema.

It will have retrospectives of Kwon-Taek (Korea) and L.V. Prasad.

“We have lined up 144 films from all over the world,” Mr C.C. Reddy, film producer and Advisor to Government of Andhra Pradesh, said.

The festival is being organised by Hyderabad Film Club, one of the most active film clubs in the country, and Telugu Film Directors’ Association.

Screening

The films would be screened at the five screens of Prasads IMAX and Amaravathi Theatre at Lakdi-ka-Pool for delegates. For the general public, the organisers have arranged for screening at the Telugu Lalitha Kala Thoranam at the Public Gardens.

The first edition of the festival was held in March, 2007.

While the delegate passes could be obtained for Rs 500 a head, members of Hyderabad Film Club and Directors’ Association could secure entry passes for Rs 300, according to Mr Bh S S Prakash Reddy, Festival Director.

Films

The bouquet of films include Donkey in Lahore (Australia), Teeth of Love (China), Love by Mistake (Cuba), Love Trick (Egypt), Ambush (Finland) and Not here to be Loved (France).

The list includes films from Iran, which won hearts of the film lovers in the twin cities, too. The menu from Iran comprises A Few Kilos of Dates for a Funeral, The Song of Birth and The Day of the Result.
