New Business States - Tamil Nadu Origin Infosys bags Rs 80-cr Elcot order Our Bureau Chennai, Dec. 27 Origin Infosys has won a Rs 80-crore order from Electronics Corporation of Tamil Nadu (Elcot) to implement hardware and networking solutions in 2,000 schools across Tamil Nadu. The Chennai-based provider of IT services and solutions will implement the project on Open Source software solution. It costs around Rs 6,000 per licence for a Microsoft solution compared with around Rs 300 for a Linux version, Mr Bhaskar, CEO, Origin Infosys, told newspersons. As part of providing computer literacy in the State, each school will have around 10 personal computers that will be supplied by Origin Infosys. The company will maintain the systems for the next three years, he said. Origin Infosys expects a turnover of Rs 100 crore during 2007-08 compared with Rs 34 crore last year.
