Real Estate & Construction States - Andhra Pradesh AP bid to expand NAC training mandate
Our Bureau Hyderabad, Dec. 27 The Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, today approved establishment of Advanced Skills Training Institutes and expanding the training mandate of National Academy of Construction. As the Chairman of the Governing Council of NAC, Dr Reddy directed the academy to use the infrastructure of ITIs and their premises to impart training in new skills in the construction sector. This move comes in the wake of State’s efforts to broaden the employable base. According to a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office, Dr Reddy felt that such a move to use ITI infrastructure would enable NAC to initiate training programmes on a variety of job-oriented programmes and trades. During the fourteenth Governing Council Body meeting of the NAC, which was held today, the Chief Minister complimented NAC for training nearly 27,000 candidates in construction trades during the year, as against 8,923 trained last year. As per plans, NAC is establishing 70 training centres as against 28 centres last year. As per estimates, this has helped provide placements to over 25,000 trainees across 19 trades. The Government was keen that NAC training should particularly focus on dropouts between 5-10 classes which was estimated to be about 3 lakhs in the State. During the year, NAC started post graduate diplomas in Facilities Management, Building and Highway technologies and Project Management in collaboration with Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University. In a bid to train youth, NAC is providing specialised training in masonry trade, electrical and housing wiring, plumbing and sanitation, painting and decoration, computers and land survey and digital architecture across 32 centres.
