Events Global VLSI meet to focus on multicore processor design Our Bureau Hyderabad, Dec. 27 An international conference on VLSI (very large scale integration) design with focus on the latest technological developments would be held in Hyderabad during January 4-8, 2008. An international students conference with opportunity thrown open for 2,000 student delegates to participate is a highlight. They can interact with leading VLSI and embedded systems architects, technology experts and, take part in a series of technology and product presentations at the conferences titled – International Conference on VLSI Design and 7th International Conference on Embedded Systems. The main conference will highlight the next generation challenges and opportunities in multicore processor design, according to a press release. Mr Dirk Meyer, President and COO, AMD, will deliver the opening keynote speech followed by plenary address by Mr Wally Rhines, CEO, Mentor Graphics — About new paradigm within India — Why experience is sometimes a bottleneck. Mr Dasaradha R. Gude, General Chair and Organising Chair of the VLSI Committee 2008, said: “While our formal education teaches us the basics for managing a particular subject, it is important to realise how vital the industry participation is for the development of student orientation to deal with reality of their career and prospects.” Sponsored by the VLSI Society of India (VSI) and Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers among others, the joint conference is a forum for researchers and designers to present and discuss various aspects of VLSI design, Electronic Design Automation (EDA), enabling technologies, and embedded systems.
