The Pune-based Bank of Maharashtra is planning to provide Internet banking for its customers in January.

The bank has already made a soft launch of this facility and the formal launch is likely to be announced next month.

Mr M.D. Mallya, Chairman and Managing Director of the bank, who was in Mangalore on Friday, told Business Line that a few customers and bank staff have been given this facility on a pilot basis. Based on the response for this facility, the bank is now planning to launch it formally next month.

Apart from Internet banking, the bank will launch four more technology-enabled facilities such as mobile banking, SMS banking, multi-city cheque and anywhere banking facilities to its customers.

Asked about the delay in launching these facilities, he said the bank started late (November 2006) in implementing core banking solution (CBS). Now, the bank has implemented CBS in 460 branches covering a business of 77 per cent.
