CEPC told not to shift headquarters

Kochi, Dec 31

The Union Commerce Ministry has directed the Cashew Export Promotion Council of India (CEPC) not to implement its decision to shift the Council headquarters to Kollam for now. In a letter to the CEPC Chairman, Mr P Bharathan Pillai, the Ministry has advised the CEPC to have a meeting with their employees union/forum etc., to resolve the matter and submit a report to the Department of Commerce . The Ministry said a number of representations from various associations had been received requesting not to shift the headquarters. The CEPC annual general meeting held here recently decided to shift its headquarters to its own premises in Kollam by next month. - Our Bureau
