Rubber Spot rubber prices unchanged Aravindan Kottayam, Jan. 3 The physical rubber rates were unchanged on Thursday. Sheet rubber RSS 4 was traded at Rs 94 a kg consecutively for the sixth day at Kottayam and Kochi lacking support from traders. RSS 3 spot moved up to Rs 102.55 from Rs 102.09 a kg at Bangkok. The domestic markets are expected to gather momentum when Tokyo Commodity Exchange (TOCOM) reopens on Friday, an observer said. Futures firmThe rubber futures firmed up reacting to the spurt in crude oil prices to record levels. The January contract for RSS 4 improved to Rs 96.45 (95.67), February to Rs 98.28 (97.51), March to Rs 100 (98.99) and April to Rs 101.72 (100.75) per kg on NMCE. The open interest was 9,773 (9,488) tonnes with 2,902 (3,000) tonnes in January, 4,140 (3,952) tonnes in February, 2,151 (2,012) tonnes in March and 580 (524) tonnes in April. The volumes were comparatively better at 1,263 (1,149) tonnes. Spot prices were (Rs/kg): RSS-4: 94 (94); RSS-5: 92 (92); ungraded: 90 (90); ISNR 20: 91 (91) and latex 60 per cent: 61.50 (61.50).
