Boeing recently completed more than 90 per cent of the design work for the new 777Freighter scheduled to go into production shortly, according to eyeforttransport.com. The first 777F will be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2008 and the first customer will be Air France. To date, Boeing has sold 82 777Fs to 11 customers. The 777F will have a range of more than 9,000 km with a full payload and maximum takeoff weight of 347,450 kg. It will have a revenue payload capability of more than 100 tonnes. The main cargo deck door of the 777F will be so sized as to facilitate direct-transfer shipments with 747 freighters now accounting for nearly half of the world’s freighter capacity.
